GEORGE TOWN, Nov 11 — The Penang Bridge International Marathon Virtual Run 2020 (PBIM2020), which was initially scheduled for Nov 21 and 22, has been extended until Dec 31.

In a statement today, PBIM chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said that registered runners can now choose to run on any day from Nov 21 at 0000 hours (midnight) until Dec 31 at 2359 hours (11.59 pm), following Malaysian time zone (GMT+8).

He said that the decision to extend the last day of the virtual run was to provide more flexibility for runners following the announcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) imposed at various states in Malaysia until Dec 6.

“This is to take into account the different circumstances of all our runners. It would allow more flexibility for runners to run at their most optimum schedule in consideration of the limitation imposed by the pandemic,” he said.

Yeoh, who is also the state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman, said that the registration for the PBIM2020 virtual run is also extended to Dec 20.

“In upholding the spirit of sportsmanship even amid COVID-19, the registration for the run this year is free for all runners (worldwide) in line with #PBIMVR (and) #runningagainstCovid19 campaigns,” he added. – BERNAMA
