KUANTAN: Fugitive businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee, who is on the Interpol wanted list, has been stripped of his “Datuk Seri” title by the Pahang palace.

The palace has also revoked the “Datuk ” award given to his younger sibling Liow Wei Loon.

State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak, in a statement, said the palace had revoked and cancelled the Darjah Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) given to Soon Hee and Wei Loon’s Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP).

“The order to immediately revoke the awards was given by the Sultan of Pahang (Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) and the letters of withdrawal came into effect on April 21.

“The nominees are not allowed to use any title previously bestowed and must return the awards to the state secretary’s office in accordance with laws regarding state awards, titles and honours,” he said.

It was previously reported that Soon Hee received the SSAP which carried the “Datuk Seri” title in 2015.

On April 20, Interpol issued the Red Notice against Soon Hee, 33, following a request by the Malaysian police to locate and detain him.

The founder of the Winner Dynasty Group is wanted to assist into an investigation under Section 130V to 130ZB of the Penal Code for offences related to organised crime.

Meanwhile, Wei Loon was among 14 people charged in court on April 9 for involvement in an organised criminal group known as “Geng Nicky”.-NST
