KUALA LUMPUR: The government will reveal further details on the registration process for the AstraZeneca vaccination on Monday.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the authorities concerned were currently finalising the procedures and mechanism that would be involved, besides identifying the vaccination dispensing centres (PPV).

“These details will be finalised. We will make an announcement (on AstraZeneca registration process and the PPVs involved) on Monday,” he told the New Straits Times.

Malaysia had received its first batch of 268,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, with another shipment due in May.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had on April 28 said Malaysia would, however, not use the AstraZeneca vaccine in the mainstream vaccination plan.

The vaccine, he said would only be used under a separate registration channel for volunteers and those receiving the vaccination would also be inoculated at separate centres.

Khairy had said the AstaZeneca would be offered in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak on a special first-come first-serve basis.

It would also be offered to anyone above 18 but health screening would be done for those who volunteer to take the vaccines.-NST
