PUTRAJAYA: More focus is needed on structural issues rather than who Khairy Jamaluddin meets next, says PKR deputy president Mohd Rafizi Ramli.

He was asked if the government would continue to engage former health minister and Rembau MP Khairy, who met Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday (June 19).

On June 16, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim posted a photo of a meeting of the country’s top economic experts together with Khairy and Datuk Seri Johari Ghani, which set tongues wagging.

“KJ is a friend. I might just catch up with him and have coffee. You guys spend too much time creating stories.

“If I, as Economy Minister, only meet PKR people, then the media and netizens will say we are not meeting others. Now the Prime Minister meets everyone to get views but that too raises issues,” he said after a town hall session on the 12th Malaysia Plan here on Tuesday (June 20).

“Let’s focus on the core structural issues. If everyone focuses on that, then we will make more progress on managing (issues) rather than spending digital space on who KJ meets next,” said Rafizi.

Since being booted out of Umno, Khairy has yet to announce which party he will join.
