KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will receive over 180,000 more Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines tomorrow, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), on its Twitter page quoted Khairy as saying that the 182,520 vaccines would be distributed to states which had not received the vaccines tomorrow and Thursday.

The JKJAV also shared several photos of him, as co-chair of the committee, together with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, during a simulation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme this morning.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will roll out tomorrow, with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah being the first Malaysians to be inoculated.

Meanwhile, Khairy also said the JKJAV had received data form the Education Ministry on the number of high-risk teachers with comorbidities.

“The Education Ministry has listed 55,539 teachers with comorbidities. We will try to get them immunised in this first phase of the campaign.”

He also refuted claims that the Orang Asli community would be compelled to receive the vaccines.

“This is not true. I urge activists and non-governmental organisations not to scare them (the Orang Asli).

“Vaccinations are voluntary and for all groups,” he added.- NST
