BUTTERWORTH: A trader was charged at the Sessions Court here today with raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter earlier this month.
The 43-year-old claimed trial to the offence when the charge was read to him in Tamil before Judge Noor Aini Yusof.
The man, who is unrepresented, was alleged to have committed the offence inside a car which was parked along Jalan Bagan Jermal here on Feb 4.
He was charged under Section 376(2) of the Penal Code which carries up to 20 years’ jail and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Syeqal Che Murat did not offer bail.
He also told the court that they were awaiting the DNA and medical reports
The man, through the interpreter, told the court that he had no bailor to bail him out.
“I am also suffering from lung and kidney illness,” he said.
Noor Aini did not grant bail.
She also fixed March 18 for mention pending the DNA and medical reports.- NST
