Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered at 480,122 on Aug 1, totalling 21.2 million jabs thus far

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): Malaysia administered 480,122 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday (Aug 1), down from 519,111 shots the day before.

A total of 298,236 individuals received their first dose yesterday, while the remaining 181,886 shots were second jabs, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Cumulatively, 21.2 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday.

A total of 14.25 million people or 43.55% of the nation’s population had received at least their first dose, including 6.95 million or 21.24% who were fully inoculated

Selangor remained the state with the highest number of first doses administered at 97,688 yesterday, followed by Kuala Lumpur (45,577), Johor (34,362), Sabah (25,116) and Kelantan (19,451).

Selangor also recorded the highest number of second shots administered at 48,556, followed by Kuala Lumpur (27,260), Sarawak (21,898), Negeri Sembilan (17,383) and Perak (14,093).

Meanwhile, Malaysia saw a second consecutive day of over 17,000 new Covid-19 cases at 17,150 yesterday, following a record high of 17,786 infections the day before.

Also reported yesterday were 160 Covid-19-related deaths, bringing the nationwide tally of coronavirus-linked fatalities to 9,184.-The Edge Market
