PUTRAJAYA: Graft investigators are investigating claims of corruption involving a PETRONAS project with an international oil and gas corporation.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that investigation papers had been opened to investigate the allegations.
“Our investigators received full cooperation from PETRONAS in the probe involving a project worth RM399mil in Sarawak.
“So far, the MACC has found several weaknesses in practices, system and work procedures in relation to the matter,” it said in a statement on Friday (May 26).
MACC said it had proposed several improvements to standard operating procedures as preventive measures.
It urged those who have information on the matter to come forward to assist in the investigation.
A portal had questioned why PETRONAS awarded the project to the international company, which it claimed was involved in a corruption case in Britain.
