Jail, fine for man who kidnapped 12-year-old girl

MANJUNG: A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months jail and fined RM3,000 in default six-months imprisonment by the Seri Manjung magistrate’s court here today for kidnapping.

Muhammad Faizzuan Zulkifili, 24, pleaded guilty to kidnapping a 12-year-old girl before Magistrate A Hafiizh Abu Bakar.

According to the charge sheet, the accused was found to have abducted the girl from the care of her 37-year-old mother.

The kidnapping took place at My Pet Zone shop in Seri Manjung at 11.30 am on May 20.

He charged under Section 363 of the Penal Code for abduction which carries a maximum imprisonment of seven years or fine.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Khazrin Haffiz Khalil prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer, Khoo Kok Tong.

It was reported on Friday that the girl was waiting for her mother in an unlocked Perodua Bezza car when the man attempted to steal the car.

The suspect, however, was arrested with the help of passers-by at the scene.-NST
