PETALING JAYA: The intake for foreign workers under the second hand goods sub-sector will be given due considerarion although there is a freeze on intake, says V. Sivakumar.
The Human Resources Minister said the application process for the sector began on Jan 25, after taking into consideration the needs of the sub-sector.
“The government had, on March 18, made a decision to temporarily freeze the approval quota for the application of foreign workers for all industries.
“This move was to ensure the approval for 1.1 million foreign workers can be optimised to further accelerate the economic growth of the country without disrupting job opportunities for local workers,” Sivakumar said in a statement on Monday (July 3).
However, he said the Human Resources Ministry is aware of the issue and will give due consideration on the intake of the foreign workers for the second hand goods sub-sector.
