PETALING JAYA: The health ministry is offering over 500 more permanent posts for dental and pharmaceutical officers who were hired on contract in 2016 and 2017.
In a statement, health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said those interested in applying for a permanent position could do so through the Public Services Commission’s SPA9 system from Jan 30 to Feb 12.
She said there were a total of 242 dental and 321 pharmaceutical permanent posts up for grabs.
“The ministry hopes these officers will prepare for the hiring process,” she added.
Earlier this month, Zaliha announced that the ministry would offer 4,914 permanent posts this year.
It includes 4,263 medical officers, 335 dental officers and 316 pharmaceutical officers.
The government has been opening up more permanent positions and offering better benefits for contract doctors following the move by these doctors to organise a nationwide strike in 2021.
The strike led by the Hartal Doktor Kontrak group saw thousands demanding a fair career path and the same benefits as medical officers in permanent positions.-FMT
