PETALING JAYA, 15 Sept 2022, (The Capital Post)- Former Cabinet minister & longest-serving Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) president Tun S. Samy Vellu passed away at the age of 86 today morning.
This was announced by Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam, who was also a former MIC president in a Facebook post today.
Tun S. Samy Vellu was born on March 8, 1936, and was the longest-serving MIC president who held the position for 31 years from 1979.
He also held the Member of Parliament seat of Sungai Siput for 8 consecutive terms from 1974-2008.
He retired from politics in 2020.-The Capital Post
