Form Six semester two, IGCSE O-Level students in Kedah to attend school starting Oct 10, says Education Ministry

PETALING JAYA: Educational institutions in Kedah, which is still in Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), will reopen starting Oct 10.

The Education Ministry said the National Security Council had allowed Form Six semester two students and IGCSE O-Level students in Kedah to attend schools without rotation.

The reopening will only involve this group of students, the ministry said in a statement.

“Other students will continue home-based teaching and learning,” it said on Friday (Sept 24).

Educational institutions under the ministry, it added, would operate two weeks from the date a state moves to the new phase under the NRP.

With Johor moving into Phase Two of the NRP starting Friday (Sept 24), the ministry said the opening of institutions under it would begin on Oct 10.

Pahang and Negri Sembilan would be entering Phase Three and Phase Four respectively on the same day.

“The opening of institutions in Pahang will remain on Oct 4 based on regulations for states under Phase Two of the NRP, but as the state enters Phase Three on Sept 24, the institutions will operate based on regulations for Phase Three states starting Oct 11.

“Institutions in Negri Sembilan will maintain its opening date as Oct 4 based on regulations for states under Phase Three of the NRP, but it will operate based on regulations for Phase Four states starting Oct 18 after it enters the new phase,” the ministry said.

Following the announcement of Langkawi as a travel bubble, the ministry said the operations of educational institutions starting Oct 3 will be based according to Phase Four regulations. -The Star
