KUALA LUMPUR: A fire broke out near the departure area on the third floor of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Thursday (Aug 3) morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said an officer and 12 personnel in two fire engines were deployed to the scene after a distress call came in at about 8.30am.
“When firemen arrived on scene, there was a thick cloud of smoke in the area.
“Upon checking, we discovered that some rubbish had caught fire in the trash chute on the third floor of the main terminal building,” he said in a statement.
The fire was brought under control by 9.10am and extinguished at 10.31am, he added.
“The fire did not involve the building structure and there were no victims,” he added.
