Enforcement officer held for allegedly asking for bribe from company owner

KUALA LUMPUR: An enforcement officer was detained by graft busters for allegedly asking for a bribe of about RM30,000 from a company owner.

Sources said the suspect is in his 40s and was detained at a cafe in Subang Jaya at about 4pm on Monday (Nov 6).

It is learned that the suspect allegedly asked for about RM30,000 as a bribe from a company owner in exchange for covering up an offence of using a fake document to obtain sponsorship to produce a bulletin.

The suspect had allegedly contacted the company owner in October, asking for the money.

Meanwhile, Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the suspect’s detention.

The case is classified under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
