KUALA LUMPUR: A Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) administrative assistant officer was slapped with 120 corruption charges involving RM82,700 in bribes today.
Mohamed Helfien Nordin, 44, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges before three Sessions Court judges Suzana Hussin, Rozina Ayob, and Azura Alwi.
According to the charges, the accused was said to have received RM82,700 from five housing cleaning contractors in stages near the Maybank Medan Tuanku branch between January 2014 and 2017.
The offence falls under Section 165 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Fadhli Ab Wahab asked the court to impose RM80,000 bail for all charges against the accused.
The father of four, who was unrepresented pleaded for minimum bail stating he is the sole breadwinner in his family.
The court set RM47,000 bail with one surety and asked the accused to surrender his passport until the disposal of the case.
The court also fixed April 12 for mention.- NST
