Covid patients can proceed to Assessment Centre in own vehicles

Estimate Reading Time: 2 minutes

KUALA LUMPUR: Covid-19 patients who have appointments at a Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) should head for the centre in their own vehicle instead of waiting for an ambulance to be sent.

The Health Ministry said in its latest protocol for Covid-19 case management, patients should notify the District Health Offices (PKD) or CAC if they did not have any mode of transportation.

It said Covid-19 patients who had not been contacted by the Health Ministry should reach out to a PKD or self-report via the MySejahtera application.

It said those who tested positive for Covid-19 would receive a notification of the test results through SMS and the MySejahtera push notification, or from medical practitioners.

“Remain calm. All you have to do is stay calm and follow all the instructions issued by the Health Ministry staff.

“Stay at home and isolate yourself while waiting for PKD or CAC to reach out to you.

“You will be contacted by the PKD/CAC and given an appointment to be present at the CAC.

“Do not worry if you’re not contacted immediately.

“Some PKDs have a high caseload and it may take several days (for the health personnel to contact patients),” the ministry’s infographics posted on Twitter read.

In the meantime, the ministry said patients should conduct self-monitoring daily through MySejahtera under the “Things To Do” tab.

Information about symptoms keyed in MySejahtera would be channelled to a PKD or CAC for action, it said.

“PKD will conduct investigations and the tracking of close contacts, as well as issue the Home Surveillance Order (HSO) and provide the wristband.

“CAC, meanwhile, will conduct the clinical evaluation (symptoms), provide advice on self-monitoring, psychosocial support and assessment of home condition for suitability of isolation.”

The ministry said if patients met the criteria for home isolation, they would have to conduct self-monitoring at home for 10 days via MySejahtera or use the Home Assistance Tool that would be given.

For patients who failed to meet the criteria, it said, they would be sent to the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) or hospitals.

While at home, if patients’ symptoms worsened, they should contact CAC and further assessments would be conducted, the ministry said.

If patients did not need to be referred to a hospital, they could continue self-monitoring at home.

“After 10 days, head for the PKD/CAC to pick up the HSO Release Letter (Surat Pelepasan Perintah dan Pengawasan) and have the wristband removed.

“If patients need to be referred to a hospital, they could be sent to a PKRC or hospital.”-NST
