IPOH: The police believe that the burglary at Perak executive council member Paul Yong’s house was a genuine break-in case.

Without elaborating, state police chief Datuk Razarudin Husain said that police could not be certain the incident was related to Yong’s rape case.

“We can’t say. This is a genuine break-in.

“We do not know whether it is related to the case where Yong is charged with rape, ” he told reporters after attending a “Back to School” programme for police personnel’s children at Mydin hypermarket in Meru Raya here Monday (Dec 9).

Yong’s house was burgled last week, with two safe boxes and several important documents and belongings stolen.

Yong had issued a press statement on the matter, noting that he had left the house on Nov 22 and only returned on Dec 1.

Yong had also said that he believed the burglars were familiar with the layout of his house and that they did not take his high-powered motorcycle, 60-inch television and some other expensive items.

On Yong’s remark that his former maid’s room was not ransacked during the incident, Comm Razarudin said there was nothing much in the room.

“The former maid’s room did not have much, aside from a bed.

“It’s not that it was not searched, but there’s nothing much to look for, ” he said, adding that the losses suffered by Yong had yet to be ascertained.
