92 Covid-19 deaths, 22,030 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 92 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, up from 87 previously.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 22,030 new cases, compared with 22,535 the day before. They comprised 21,636 local cases and 394 imported cases.

The death toll now stands at 33,899.

Thirty-three of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Kedah recorded the most number of fatalities with 28, followed by Johor (15), Selangor (14), Penang (7), Perak (6), Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Sabah (5 each), Sarawak and Terengganu (3 each) and Kelantan (1)

There were no deaths in Melaka, Perlis and the federal territories.

As of midnight, there were 308,942 active cases, with 8,400 people hospitalised. Of this, 388 were in intensive care units (ICU), 215 of whom required respiratory assistance.

There were also 33,872 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 3,845,601.-FMT
