Estimate Reading Time: < 1 minute

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz has been seen entering the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex here for the RM2.28bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD) trial involving Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

She is expected to testify against the former prime minister as a prosecution witness in the trial on Wednesday (July 26).

Zeti’s arrival at 1.55pm was a quiet one without any media fanfare and the trial, which was initially scheduled to begin in the morning, finally began at around 3pm.

Wearing a long loose dark blue dress, Zeti was accompanied by several individuals, presumably her staff.

Former BSI Bank wealth management services head Kevin Michael Swampillai, 59, is currently on the stand testifying in a cross-examination conducted by Najib’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

Najib, 70, is on trial for 25 charges in total: four for abuse of power that allegedly brought him the financial benefit to the tune of RM2.28bil; and 21 for money laundering involving the same amount of money.
