15 new Covid-19 deaths, highest since April 20

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 15 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, with four of them being brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Yesterday’s death toll was the highest since April 20, when the country recorded 16 Covid-19 deaths.

The overall death toll now stands at 36,117.

Johor recorded four deaths while there were three deaths each in Melaka and Perak.

There were two deaths in Sabah while Selangor, Sabah and Sarawak each recorded one death.

There were no deaths in the other states and in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

According to the health ministry’s Github database, there were 3,516 new cases.

They comprised 3,513 local cases and three imported cases.

As of midnight, there were 41,701 active cases, with 1,534 people hospitalised. Of this, 92 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 49 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 2,541 recoveries.

The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,744,929.-FMT
