PETALING JAYA: About 66% of the Covid-19 cases in the last two weeks are sporadic cases, says Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
The Health Minister said from March 8 to 21, there were 13,185 sporadic Covid-19 cases, which is 66.14% of total cases.
Sporadic cases are those where the source of infection cannot be traced.
“The rest (33.8%) or 6,751 cases were linked to clusters that the Ministry announced,” he said in a press conference on Monday (March 22).
He added that from the total of 19,936 cases recorded in the last two weeks, 69% were Malaysian citizens while non-citizens made up the other 30%.
Meanwhile, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin reiterated that undocumented migrants would not be detained or deported if they come forward for vaccination.
“I am having a meeting with the Home Affairs Ministry later this week to discuss the method and strategy we will use to reach out to these communities.
“I have already discussed this with United Nations agencies as well as NGOs who work together with undocumented migrants,” he said.-The Star
