KUALA LUMPUR: A husband and wife team from Selangor emerged as the champion of the MR DIY’s ‘Bounce and Bingo 2.0’ championship, taking home RM10,000 in cash.
After an intense two-hour battle involving ping-pong balls and bingo, Mohd Khairul Anuar and Nur Ikmal from Selangor emerged victorious, defeating 15 other teams from across Malaysia to clinch the coveted title.
The duo triumphed over the Johor team in the first round, the Kelantan team in the quarter-final, and the Putrajaya team in the semi-final before securing the championship against Sarawak with a bingo formed in just 12 seconds.
Expressing their excitement, Mohd Khairul said, “This is our second year participating in the ‘Bounce and Bingo’ game tournament.’
“As usual, we were nervous at the beginning, but we gained momentum and became calmer after a few rounds.
“It felt surreal to win again. In 2023, we were the second runner-up, and in 2024, we became the champions. It’s even better since we won an additional prize for being the fastest-recorded team.”
Nur Ikmal said: “With today’s winnings, we can’t wait to go on a shopping spree at MR DIY for our house renovation.”
This national-level game championship offers attractive prizes worth up to RM30,000, including cash, vouchers, trophies, and medals.
As the champions of MR DIY.’s ‘Bounce and Bingo 2.0’ Championship, Mohd Khairul Anuar and Nur Ikmal, representing Selangor, brought home RM10,000 in cash and a trophy.
Additionally, the couple received RM5,000 for recording the fastest time to form a bingo during the grand final, a new prize category introduced by the retailer.
The first runner-up, a team from Sarawak — Eric Ting and Joanne Kong — also took home RM5,000 in cash and a trophy.
The second runner-up, a husband and wife team from Kelantan, Mohamad Rashidi Che Musa and Nur Diana Sharatan Azlim, received RM3,000 in cash and a trophy. The championship awarded consolation prizes worth RM500 in cash vouchers each to 13 other teams from Melaka, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis, Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Pahang, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.
Commenting on the championship held at MR DIY Plus, Mid Valley Megamall recently, MR DIY group marketing head Alex Goh said, “This is MR DIY.’s second year organising ‘Bounce and Bingo’, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive with over 8,000 entries within the two days of the tournament.
“As an organiser, we are proud that this initiative has attracted many Malaysians from various backgrounds and are touched by their support.
“All of our grand finalists today have shown excellent sportsmanship. Despite some having participated in last year’s championship and having experience, they guided and even motivated the newcomers. We couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you, Malaysians, for playing this game.”
To make it even more exciting, it introduced the fastest-record prize for the grand finalists and double-up rewards for the audience through lucky draws.
“Overall, we want to make our customers’ visits to MR DIY stores more enjoyable and memorable so we can add more value to their lives. We’ll see you next year,” added Goh.
The ‘Bounce and Bingo’ is MR DIY’s first-ever game tournament initiative. Inspired by a viral game, it is an easy game to play but requires teamwork, skill, and luck to win.
The game aims to encourage Malaysian families to team up and experience the joy and excitement of playing a simple and easy game while standing a chance to win lucrative prizes.
