PETALING JAYA: A church, private college and business park in the Klang Valley have carried out disinfection measures at their premises following reports of confirmed Covid-19 cases there.
The Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur said in a statement that two members of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLOG) in Puchong, who were in close contact with the first confirmed case in the parish recently, had tested positive for Covid-19.
“Both have been admitted to Hospital Sungai Buloh for treatment,” the church authorities here was quoted by a news portal on Tuesday night (March 10).
The statement also said two other parishioners, who might have had close contact with a confirmed patient outside the parish on March 1, were currently under investigation and quarantined.
“Both have been tested and are awaiting results,” the Archdiocese said.
The church authorities said all measures, as required by the Health Ministry, had been taken to ensure the church premises remained safe for other parishioners.
UOW Malaysia KDU, in an internal memo, also confirmed that an off campus student at its Glenmarie campus had tested positive for Covid-19 on March 1.
The student, a local, has been under observation and self-quarantine since March 1.
The memo added that the university began disinfecting the affected areas which would be cordoned off until the deep-cleaning process is completed.
UOW Malaysia KDU also said it would be conducting temperature screening and providing hand sanitisers to maintain cleanliness.
“The situation is being actively managed, and as such, this is a time for caution and not panic,” said the memo.
Separately, the management of Plaza 33 also confirmed that a visitor to one of its tenants had tested positive for Covid-19.
The incident took place on March 4 and sterilisation of the area was done immediately upon confirmation by the Health Ministry through contact tracing.
“The management has cleaned the common areas. Plaza 33 is now fully operational and our restaurants are safe,” a management staff member told the news portal.
The management staff member added that those in close contact had immediately quarantined themselves at home. – The Star
