PETALING JAYA: Following an increase in demand for air travel, AirAsia now allows passengers to carry two pieces of cabin baggage again with a combined weight not exceeding 7kg for free.
The revised policy is effective Tuesday (July 7).
“Guests will be able to carry one cabin bag not exceeding the dimensions of 56cm (H) x 36cm (W) x 23cm (D) or not more than the maximum linear of 115cm.
“It must fit in the overhead storage compartment in the aircraft cabin,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.
For the other piece, it can be a laptop bag or a small bag not exceeding the dimensions of 40cm (H) x 30cm (W) x 10cm (D) or the maximum linear of 80cm and it must fit under the passenger seat in front.
Those who wish to travel with more than the permitted cabin baggage limit should pre-book their checked baggage allowance, purchase for baggage or upgrade.
In April, AirAsia had initially announced that passengers can only carry one bag with a maximum weight of 5kg into the cabin.
It, however, revised the decision to allow one bag at a maximum weight of 7kg, saying the change was made to facilitate social distancing during boarding and landing.
Besides complying with the advice and regulations from government and health authorities, AirAsia also said it has implemented end-to-end contactless procedures and a series of new safety measures to ensure passengers’ safety.
