SIBU: A computer technician succumbed to a serious head injury a day after he was rammed from behind by a e-hailing vehicle at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the accident
happened at 3.10pm Saturday (Feb 15) but the victim Mohammad Herman Elias, 38, passed away at 3.03pm Sunday (Feb 16) at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sibu Hospital.
The deceased was from Kemuyang Timur.
ACP Stanley said at the time of the accident, the victim and the e-hailing driver, 25, were travelling in the same direction, heading towards the airport.
“The deceased, who was travelling on the outer lane of the dual carriageway, was suddenly hit from behind by the car,” he said.
The victim suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to the hospital. However, he died the next day.
ACP Stanley said the driver of the car has been arrested under Section 112 of the Road Transport Act 1987 as he was alleged to have committed an offence under Section 41(1) of the same Act for reckless driving causing death. -The Star
