RANTAU PANJANG: A Thai woman was arrested by the General Operations Force (GOF) for smuggling various types of fruits valued at nearly RM10,000 here yesterday.

The 43-year-old woman was travelling in a car when she was stopped by GOF personnel at Kampung Gual Periok.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said the woman was detained at about 5.30pm.

“The Thai woman was believed to have brought in the fruits from an illegal jetty here before placing them into her car.

“She was on her way to deliver the fruits to local buyers when she was nabbed by GOF personnel,” he said.

On another note, he said a local man and a Thai woman were detained for possession of a small packet of Yaba pills in Kota Baru on Tuesday night.

Ros Azhan said the 29-year-old man was detained in a housing area in Kampung Sungai Padi at about 7.30pm.

“Meanwhile, the 26-year-old woman was nabbed in a follow-up operation at a house in the area.
