PUTRAJAYA: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has dismissed claims that the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) English language speaking test examination paper was leaked.

Recently, there had been accusations that the questions were leaked via Telegram.

Fadhlina stated that the Education Ministry conducted investigations and found no evidence to classify it as a “leak.”

“It had nothing to do with this leak. We have our standards to ensure if it is a leak or not. And based on our reports it did not happen.

“The situation has been controlled, and there has been no spread. We have also clarified that this matter does not fall under the context of a leak, as alleged,” she said after the Education Ministry’s final monthly assembly here on Tuesday (Dec 19).

She emphasised that security and integrity are top priorities in high-stakes exams like the SPM.

Meanwhile, Fadhlina extended her condolences to the family of a Year Six student who reportedly died from an electric shock at a school in Serdang on Thursday (Dec 19).

“We take important lessons from this incident that had occurred, to ensure that all our school premises must be safe, and safety inspections must be carried out from time to time,” she said.

She also extended her condolences to the family of an Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) student who tragically lost their life in an accident after returning from a trip to Indonesia on Wednesday (Dec 18).

She mentioned that the IPG rector has confirmed plans to visit the family to provide donations and psychosocial support.
