SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan government hopes the state will be given priority in terms of infrastructure projects in Budget 2025 to be tabled by the Prime Minister on Oct 18.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said this was important as the state hopes to attract more investments and had not been given priority when it came to infrastructure allocations previously.

“We are hoping for a better budget (allocation) for Negri Sembilan this time around as we did not enjoy this previously.

“The state needs better infrastructure and related facilities which can be costly,” he told reporters after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Negri.

Aminuddin said Negri Sembilan needed better infrastructure in line with the development and progress made by the state.

He said if there was a higher allocation for infrastructure projects, then it would expedite development planned by both the state and federal governments in Negri Sembilan.

Asked if there was a particular development he was referring to, Aminuddin said his administration wants infrastructure projects and facilities in all eight districts.

“We want to focus throughout the state which means in all districts,” he said.

On a separate matter, Aminuddin said the state government has already started preparing for potential floods following heavy rains forecast in November.

“This is important as we have been told that nine states including Negri Sembilan will receive heavy rains in November.

“We will soon activate the Negri Sembilan Command Centre or Nescom which has been set up to coordinate rescue efforts in the event of a disaster,” he said.

Apart from the state Disaster Management Committee, the unit’s members will come from the police, Civil Defence, Fire and Rescue Department, Drainage and Irrigation Department, Public Works Department, Minerals and Geo-Science Department and Meteorological Department.
