TANAH MERAH- A casual worker with chronic gout which has affected his legs and forced him to stop work two years ago, is appealing for donations from the public.
Che Rosli Che Long, 36, who used to undertake general work and tap rubber, made the decision to stop work as his ailment prevents him for standing up for long periods.
The illness became apparent when Che Rosli first felt a tiny lump in his left leg which grew larger over time, and spread throughout his leg. He cleans his wounds twice a day to prevent infection.
He relies completely on his wife Mariana Che Man, 36, whose earnings of RM100 a week as a rubber tapper, sustain their family.
The couple is in the process of applying for aid from the Welfare Department.
Che Rosli told this to Bernama recently at his home in Kampung Bendang Gok Seberang here, after receiving a visit from Che Nor Hayati Mohamed, the chairman of non-governmental organisation Cempaka Merah Asnaf Society – she presented him with a donation of household supplies.
