4 more bodies found, landslide death toll now 30

PETALING JAYA: The body of four more victims have been found at the site of the Batang Kali landslide, according to the national disaster management agency (Nadma).

In a brief Facebook post, Nadma said the four bodies were found this morning.

This brings the death toll to 30.

Search and rescue operations at the site of the landslide tragedy entered its seventh day today. The operation resumed this morning after it was suspended at 10pm yesterday, according to Bernama.

A total of 94 people were affected by the landslide at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, near Batang Kali in the early hours of last Friday. Of that number, 61 were rescued.

The search continues for the remaining three people who are unaccounted for.

Meanwhile, according to a report by AFP, the man whose body was recovered yesterday morning, was found hugging his dog.

The authorities said his body was taken to a hospital for a post-mortem while the dog’s remains were sent to the veterinary services department (DVS).-FMT
