Bursa extends gains at opening as buying interest in commodity, O&G counters returns

KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Bursa Malaysia extended Tuesday’s (May 17) gains to open higher as buying interest in selected commodity and oil and gas (O&G)-related heavyweights returned.

At 9.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 5.18 points to 1,553.78 from Tuesday’s close of 1,548.6.

The benchmark index opened 5.55 points higher at 1,554.15.

On the broader market, gainers surpassed decliners 213 to 109, while 231 counters were unchanged, 1,702 untraded and 11 others suspended.

Total turnover stood at 344.01 million units worth RM95.18 million.-BERNAMA
