PETALING JAYA: A 59-year-old man suffered death by hanging in a police lock-up a day after he was arrested in a drug case, police said.

Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department said the cause of death was ascertained by a post-mortem examination by Seberang Jaya Hospital.

However the man’s death would continue to be investigated from various angles before the case is handed to the coroner, said the department’s deputy director, Allaudeen Abdul Majid.
The detainee was arrested on two drug charges on March 22 and placed in a lock-up at Seberang Perai Selatan police headquarters. He was found dead the next day.-FMT
