PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 20,939 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

The last time infections exceeded 20,000 were the 21,176 cases reported on Sept 10.

In a Twitter post, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,996,361.
Of the 20,939 cases reported today, only 118 patients (0.56% of cases) were in Category 3, 4 and 5. A total of 5,181 cases were in Category 1 and 15,640 in Category 2.-FMT
