KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported 116 deaths from Covid-19 as of midnight yesterday, bringing the death toll to 24,681.

Based on data shared by the Health Ministry on CovidNow, of the 116 fatalities, 29 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases.
Of these, 33 deaths were recorded in Selangor, followed by Penang (20), Kuala Lumpur (17), Sarawak (14), Kelantan (10), Sabah (eight), Melaka (seven), Perak (six) and Kedah (one).
The seven-day actual average continued with a downward trend and further dipped to 92 yesterday.
Penang remained as the state with the highest number of deaths over the past two-weeks with 15.6 deaths per 100,000 people.
With the 13,754 new cases reported yesterday, active cases in the country now stood at 198,284.
Of the total, 165,421 cases (83.4 per cent) were under home quarantine, 21,350 cases (10.8 per cent) were receiving treatment at low-risk Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC), 10,396 cases (5.2 per cent) were hospitalised and the remaining 1,117 (0.6 per cent) were treated at intensive care units (ICUs).
Of the total at ICUs nationwide, 615 were on ventilator support.
Ventilator utilisation rate nationwide is at 49.9 per cent.

The nationwide hospital bed usage is at 72.6 per cent. Johor is the state with the highest hospital bed utilisation rate at 89.1 per cent, with 1,857 patients now hospitalised across the southern state.
This is followed by Penang where 87.7 per cent of beds are used for Covid-19 patients, and Kelantan (85.6 per cent).
A total 75.9 per cent of ICU beds were utilised nationwide.
As of midnight, 99.2 per cent of Penang ICU beds were taken up, followed by Kedah (97.5 per cent) and Putrajaya (90 per cent).
Meanwhile, 68.8 per cent of the population (22,481,986 individuals) have received one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 58.1 per cent of the population (19,180,397 individuals) have been fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry projected that 80 per cent of the population (26,125,920 individuals) would be fully vaccinated by Nov 26.
Yesterday, 326,612 vaccine doses were administered nationwide, with 132,562 individuals receiving their first dose and 194,050 receiving their second.
A total 79.3 per cent (6,678,198 individuals) of the Klang Valley population had been fully vaccinated, followed by Negri Sembilan with 69 per cent (779,364 individuals) and Labuan at 67.5 per cent (67,268 individuals). -NST
