Covid-19: Malaysia’s daily vaccination rate fell to 396,578 doses on Aug 23

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 24): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered fell to 396,578 yesterday (Aug 23) from 441,100 the day before.

Of this, 150,469 individuals received their first dose, while the remaining 246,109 had their second jab, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Cumulatively, 31.79 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday.

A total of 18.48 million people or 56.6% of the nation’s population had received at least the first dose, including 13.32 million or 40.8% who were fully inoculated.

About 6.74 million individuals or 80% of the total population of the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

Among them, 5.25 million people or 62.3% of the Klang Valley’s population were fully inoculated with two doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Johor was the state with the highest number of first doses administered at 32,989 yesterday, followed by Kedah (18,532), Sabah (17,076), Terengganu (13,029) and Perak (12,554).

For second doses, Johor also topped the list at 38,045 yesterday, followed by Selangor (32,383), Sabah (28,933), Penang (22,709) and Kuala Lumpur (20,383).

Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases dropped to 17,672 yesterday from 19,807 the previous day. This raised cumulative Covid-19 cases in the country to 1.57 million.
