KUCHING: Police have arrested two suspects, including a woman, and seized drugs worth RM267,940 at a roadblock at KM30 Jalan Serian-Tebedu here.

Sarawak police commissioner Comm Datuk Aidi Ismail said police personnel on duty in the ongoing Ops Benteng stopped the car, which was driven by a 35-year-old man, at about 5am last Friday (March 5) on suspicion of involvement in drug activities.

Also in the car was a 38-year-old woman.

“Upon inspection, the woman was found to have 0.73g of syabu. Further inspection found a bag containing 14,880 pills believed to be ecstasy,” Comm Aidi said in a statement on Monday (March 8).

He said the pills were estimated to be worth RM267,840 and the syabu RM100.

Police also seized the car and RM500 in cash.

“Both suspects, who have no criminal records, tested positive for methamphetamine,” Comm Aidi added.

He said they had been remanded until March 12 and were being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.-The Star
