KOTA BARU: Pas said the recent move by two PKR Members of Parliament to exit their party and declare support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) showed their confidence in the ruling government.
Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said this also proved that the duo believed in Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.
“In terms of politics, the move was good as it showed that people are confident with the Prime Minister’s administration.
“They have seen the success achieved by Muhyiddin over a year of his ruling the country.
“Pas will not comment further on the issue but of course, as one of the components in PN, we are happy to see this new development,” he said.
Mohd Amar who is Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar told this to reporters after receiving the Covid-19 vaccination at the Darulnaim Complex here today.
48 people led by Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob received the vaccination today.
Mohd Amar said he believed more MPs would exit their party and declare their support for PN in the coming days.
On Feb 28, two PKR MPs resigned from their party and declared their support for Muhyiddin’s government.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Muhyiddin said the two were Julau MP Larry Sng Wei Shien and Tebrau MP Steven Choong Shiau Yoon.
He said statutory declarations (SD) were signed by Sng and Choong and were handed to him after a retreat session with Cabinet members in conjunction with PN’s first anniversary in Putrajaya.
Muhyiddin added the support would definitely strengthen the PN government, especially when it is making efforts and plans to manage the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as revive the country’s economy.
Muhyiddin’s also shared several photographs of the two handing over their SDs to him.- NST
