IPOH: A 42-year-old civil servant was charged in a Sessions Court here with molesting his two young daughters in April last year.
The accused, an attendant at a government clinic in Manjung, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial before Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir.
According to the charge sheet, for the first offence, the man on April 10 at about 2.30am at his house in Sitiawan, had molested his six-year-old daughter by touching her private parts.
For the second offence, at the same house sometime in April, molested his nine-year-old daughter in the same manner.
The accused allegedly committed the offences under Section 14(A) of Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
He could face a maximum of 20 years’ jail and caning upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Waffy Ismail requested for bail to be set at RM10,000.
He also asked the court to impose additional conditions by ensuring the accused reports monthly at a police station and to ensure he does not communicate with the victims.
His lawyer Mohd Asri Othman requested for bail to be set at RM5,000.
“The accused is no longer staying with his children, and also in the midst of a divorce process,” he added.
Judge Mohd Fauzi set bail at RM6,000 with one surety and imposed the conditions requested by the DPP.
He then fixed Feb 25 as the next mention date.- The Star
