Investment fraud: Six Chinese nationals including woman detained

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — Six Chinese nationals including a woman were arrested over their involvements with an investment fraud syndicate operating in an apartment unit located in Mont Kiara, here, last Tuesday.

Brickfields district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said the suspects, aged between 26 and 32 years, were arrested in a raid at about 2.05 pm.

“Further examination found that all those arrested had been living in the premises since early December last year. They are suspected of carrying out online fraud activities.

“All of them also failed to submit any valid travel document when asked to do so,” he told Bernama today.

Anuar said the raid also led to the seizures of 11 mobile phones, four laptops as well as access cards for the apartment units involved.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code and Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act while further investigations were conducted.

The co-operation of the public was also sought to channel information related to crime by contacting the Brickfields Police Hotline at 03-2297 9222 or any nearby police station, he added.- BERNAMA
