Agong visits flood victims in Maran

PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, will be visiting four flood shelters in Maran, Pahang, today.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Sultan Abdullah will be visiting flood victims taking shelter at SMK Maran, Surau Kampung Jara, SK Kuala Sentul and Masjid As Syakirin.

In a statement, he said the King will be making donations to the flood victims at the shelters to ease their suffering.

“His Majesty conveys his sympathies to all flood victims, as well as his hopes that they will persevere.

“This visit reflects His Majesty’s deeply heartfelt concern for his people in this time of need,” he said.

He also said Sultan Abdullah reminded the National Disaster Management Agency to do everything in its power to help the flood victims.

Given the rise in Covid-19 infections nationwide, he said, the King called for priority of new norms in all flood shelters and for victims and frontliners alike.

“Sultan Abdullah also advises Malaysians in low-lying areas to stay alert and be ready to evacuate to flood shelters immediately at moment’s notice,” he said.- FMT
