KUANTAN: Users of the East Coast Expressway (LPT1) have been advised to postpone their travel plans after a second section of the highway, at Km113 near Lanchang, was inundated by floodwaters last night.

In a statement, Anih Berhad, the concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) and LPT1, said two sections along the highway are now impassable to vehicles.
“Both bounds, between Km84.6 and Km84.7, have been closed since Jan 3 when a 400m stretch was submerged under 1 metre of water following continuous heavy rain. However, the volume of water spilling onto the road has dropped.

“Late last night, Km113 (near Lanchang), was closed in both directions after the water level began to rise at about 9pm. Motorists are advised to delay their travel plans,” it read.
Anih said for information on alternative routes, the public can contact the Public Works Department’s (PWD) disaster operations room at 09-5717157.
