All areas in Klang Valley now red zones

PETALING JAYA: All districts in Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur are now red zones.

Selangor has the highest number of active cases with 8,194 Covid-19 infections, 3,476 of which are in Klang, followed by Petaling (1,415) and Hulu Langat (1,225).

Kuala Lumpur has 4,379 active cases, half of which were detected in Lembah Pantai while Putrajaya, currently under the recovery movement control order (RMCO), has 49 positive cases being treated.

The Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre, which announced this, said there were 3,243 cases in Sabah, spread out across 11 red zone districts, including Kota Kinabalu with 675 infections, Lahad Datu (468) and Penampang (410).

The whole of Melaka is close to being a red zone, with two out of its three districts, Jasin and Alor Gajah, recording 255 and 108 cases respectively.

Other states that currently have a high number of active cases are Johor (2,028), Negeri Sembilan (905), Perak (553), Penang (549), Labuan (194), Pahang (145), Kelantan (112) and Kedah (111).

Perlis, Terengganu and Sarawak are the only states without any red zones.

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah are currently under the conditional MCO until Dec 31, with the exception of the Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor districts.

All other states, except for certain districts and subdistricts, are currently under RMCO.

Malaysia has been recording over 1,000 Covid-19 cases daily, with 1,196 infections and one death yesterday. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 105,096, with 20,233 active cases. – FMT
