KUALA LUMPUR: Six individuals were fined RM800 each by the Magistrate Court here for fighting in front of Low Yat Plaza last week.

Magistrate Tawfiq Affendy Chin imposed the fine against them after they pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 160 of the Penal Code for committing affray.
They were caught for fighting outside the digital mall in Bukit Bintang on Dec 4, and were charged with disturbing public peace.
The six individuals were Haikal Izwaanfazeede Razak, Muhammad Johan Perumal, Muhammad Farid Izzat Dzulkafli, Muhammad Yadiy Na’im Dzulkafli, Ismail Arif Haron, and Muhammad Dzulhakim Dzulkafli. They are employees of the IT outlets in the mall.
They will face a one-month jail sentence if they fail to pay the RM800 fine.
The court also postponed its decision against another accused individual, who is a teenager, to Feb 8 next year, pending his social welfare report.

The police said they arrested a total of 44 people last Friday over the brawl in front of Low Yat Plaza. Those arrested were shop owners, employees and members of the public.
Dang Wangi district police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah had said the fight allegedly started after a dispute over customers outside some shops selling computers and laptops.
He added that the incident was not racially-motivated.
Video clips of the fighting on the road and in front of shops outside Low Yat Plaza were shared on social media following the incident.
The popular digital mall in Kuala Lumpur is not new to controversy with an incident in July 2015 involving an alleged theft, which turned into a fight between friends of the youth arrested and shopkeepers, and later to a racially-motivated protest by some Malay NGOs. – FMT
