KOTA KINABALU: The city market and the Safma fish market will be closed from Oct 28-30 after nine City Hall officials stationed there tested positive for Covid-19.
Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said the three-day closure is to make way for disinfection works on the premises and surrounding areas involved.
“This is also to make sure that the spread of the virus can be contained,” he said.
The matter was highlighted and brought to the attention of the state secretary Datuk Safar Untong on Oct 25.
Nordin said the approval to close the markets for disinfection works was given soon after. – The Star
