PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 37 Covid-19 deaths yesterday.

The death toll stands at 34,751.
According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 16,863 new cases. They comprised 16,625 local cases and 238 imported cases.
Of the 37 deaths, six were classified as brought-in-dead (BID) cases.
Johor recorded the most number of fatalities with 12, followed by Kedah (6), Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor (4 each), Penang (3), Sarawak (2) and Perak and Sabah (1 each).

There were no deaths in Pahang, Perlis, Terengganu and the federal territories.
As of midnight, there were 233,179 active cases, with 5,192 hospitalised. Of this, 299 were in intensive care units (ICU), 187 of whom required respiratory assistance.
A total of 26,171 recoveries were also reported.
The total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 4,138,867.-FMT
