PETALING JAYA: There were 161 new hospital admissions involving Covid-19 cases yesterday, the health ministry said.
Of this, 87 cases were in Category 1 and 2 while 74 were in Category 3, 4 and 5.
Selangor had the highest number of new admissions with 36, followed by Perak (22) and Sarawak (15).
A total of 182 patients were discharged yesterday.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Covid-19 intensive care units (ICUs) were at 13% of their total capacity of 752 beds.
A total of 68 patients required respiratory assistance, with ventilators being used at 8% of their maximum capacity.
In terms of the total capacity for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients at public hospitals, non-critical beds were at 58% capacity while 54% of ICUs were in use.
Two new clusters were reported yesterday.
The Covid-19 infectivity rate (R0) stood at 0.70.
The ministry also reported six Covid-19 deaths yesterday, down from 13 previously.
The death toll stands at 35,525.
According to its Github database, there were 3,471 new cases, compared with 3,361 a day earlier. They comprised 3,465 local cases and six imported cases.
Four of the deaths were classified as brought-in-dead (BID).
Selangor recorded three deaths, followed by Johor, Melaka and Penang (one each).
There were no deaths in the other states and federal territories.-FMT
