12 Covid-19 deaths, new cases drop to 8,112

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 12 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, down from 21 previously.

The death toll stands at 35,292.

According to the ministry’s GitHub database, there were 8,112 new cases, compared with 10,177 a day before. They comprised 8,087 local cases and 25 imported cases.

There were four brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Sarawak recorded the most number of deaths with five, followed by Perak (2) and Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

There were no deaths in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.

As of midnight, there were 145,798 active cases, with 2,811 people hospitalised. Of this, 174 were in intensive care units (ICU), with 110 requiring respiratory assistance.

There were also 15,765 recoveries recorded.

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia stands at 4,325,818.-FMT
